The ASBS Foundation’s Walk from Obesity is a national fundraising event designed
to reduce disability, death and discrimination of people who are obese by educating the public and healthcare professionals about effective treatments. This annual nationwide non-competitive walking event brings together participants of all ages throughout their communities. Walkers in the unifour area raise money by asking friends, family and co-workers to sponsor them. In addition to walker income, funds are raised through sponsorship, matching gifts, corporate contributions and other fund-raising activities.
The funds raised through this event will support the ASBS Foundation’s educational mission by:
- Increasing research funding specifically for severe obesity
- Improving obesity awareness and reducing its associated discrimination
- Increasing public education about this devastating disease
- Increasing professional education concerning effective treatments of the disease
