HICKORY, N.C.- Frye Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that hospital Chaplain Robert Ford was recently named “Chaplain of the Year” by the North Carolina Chaplains Association. The association presented Chaplain Ford with the honor at their annual conference held April 28 in Atlantic Beach, NC.
“I was totally and completely surprised to receive this award. I did not have a clue, although everyone in Frye’s human resources department knew about it, as well as my wife, daughter, and father-in-law. They kept their secret well. To say the least, I am very touched,” he said when he returned to Frye following the conference.
Chaplain Ford returned home toward the end of 2004, after serving in Germany with the United States Army for 18 months, providing pastoral care and counsel to combat soldiers and their families. He has served as Frye’s Chaplain for 17 years. For information on the Pastoral Care Program at Frye, call (828) 315-3798.
