Frye Regional Medical Center Introduces Convenient Beeper Systems for Patients

July 27, 2006

Hickory, NC – At Frye Regional Medical Center, patient satisfaction is a top priority. To aid in the admitting process, Frye has implemented a beeper system for patients and their families. Much like the flashing coaster beepers used in restaurants, Frye’s beepers will alert the patient when a registration representative is ready to begin the admitting process. The beepers will also be given to families who have loved ones in CCU and ICU. This will allow the family to walk freely throughout the facility and can be used to notify them if necessary.

The system Frye is implementing utilizes a new concept in handheld beepers. The new handheld beeper is crafted to be easier to hold by the patient. Eventually, Frye plans to pre-program specific messages that will even better inform patients and their families of pertinent information.

According to Mike Simms, Administrative Director of Patient Financial Services, the beeper system is already installed and is undergoing testing. Frye plans to fully integrate the system by August.
