Hickory, NC – Frye Regional Medical Center will host a ribbon-cutting and grand opening for the hospital’s newly-renovated cafeteria on Wednesday, November 8 at 11:00am. Frye’s cafeteria was last renovated in the 1990’s, making the current seating and serving areas outdated. To make these areas more efficient for employees and guests, hospital officials decided to move away from the traditional cafeteria approach to a more modernized “food-court” concept. More efficient cashier stands were added and the serving space enlarged to allow guests to move around more freely. To create a trendier atmosphere, new cabinetry and a “show-cooking” area have also been included. New chairs and carpet in the seating area will complement the new serving area. The menu has been updated to offer some exciting new options and the décor is bright and colorful. The project took about two months to complete and cost about $300,000. “Patients, visitors, employees and physicians now have a more attractive and efficient cafeteria,” said Keith Hertel, Frye Administrative Director of Food and Nutritional Services. “We are excited about the transformation and the benefits it will provide to our customers.” Frye Regional Medical Center, part of Tenet North Carolina, is a 355-bed acute care facility located at 420 North Center Street in Hickory, NC.
