Offering Comprehensive Healthcare to the Unifour Area

Since 1911, Frye Regional Medical Center has prided itself on delivering medical excellence and compassionate care. The 355-bed private facility offers the skill and experience of over 300 active physicians representing over 35 specialties, as well as a professional staff of more than 1,700 dedicated to providing quality healthcare services.

The three campuses – Main, South and Viewmont - of the medical center system feature an acute and express emergency facility, extensive outpatient services, a neonatal transport team and an entire facility devoted exclusively to outpatient elective surgery.

Main Campus

The Heart Center at Frye features a Cardiovascular Open Heart Unit, an Intensive Care Unit, a Progressive Care Unit, an Intermediate Step Down Unit, a Telemetry Unit and a Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Services include advanced interventional procedures such as stenting and roto-blader technology, traditional open heart surgery and minimally invasive procedures.

Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Frye's Rehabilitation Center provides a multi-disciplinary inpatient physical rehab program, complemented by Frye's outpatient therapy programs.

The Vascular Center takes a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment and rehabilitation of vascular diseases. Cardiovascular surgeons, radiologists, vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists and physiatrists join together in prevention, diagnosis and treatment services.

Frye's Center for Neurosciences cares for patients with injuries and illnesses relating to the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Services include MRI and CT scanning, stroke management/thrombolytic stroke therapy, brain tumor/cerebral aneurysm/A-V malformation surgery, cervical and lumbar disk surgery and cartoid endarterectomy. Neuro facilities include an Intensive Care Unit, a Progressive Care Unit, and Neuro-Ortho Unit and a Sleep Study Lab.

The Cancer Center at Frye takes a multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Physicians from many specialties join their skills to offer new hope to cancer patients.

The Women's Pavilion at Frye offers a concentrated focus on the special needs of women's healthcare. The Pavilion includes birthing and postpartum suites, nursery and neonatal intensive care units.

South Campus

Frye's South Campus is home to Behavioral Health Services (One 3rd Ave NW, Hickory). The facility offers comprehensive adult, adolescent and child psychiatric services and features an in-patient unit, residential unit, partial hospitalization unit, and an adult mental retardation unit. Inpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse services and day treatment programs are among the many services provided. The staff includes board certified psychiatrists, masters level counselors and social workers, and specially trained psychiatric nurses. Confidentiality is a top priority.

Viewmont Campus

The Surgery Center (located at 50 13th Ave NE, Suite 1, Hickory) combines the Viewmont Surgery Center, featuring two surgical suites; Same Day Surgery facility featuring 15 additional surgical suites; and an inpatient operating room. A vast array of same day surgical services are offered including cardiothoracic, neurovascular, surgical oncology, ophthalmic, oral, orthopaedic, ENT (ear, nose & throat), plastic & reconstructive, urological and general surgery procedures.
