Our advanced technology and equipment standards help promote faster, more accurate results. Here is additional information regarding the services provided at FryeCare:
X-Rays (offered 7am-5pm, M-F) For basic studies, such as chest and extremity X-rays, no special preparation or instructions are required. However, certain X-ray studies of the digestive system such as GI series, barium enemas, small bowel series, require bowel preparation or fasting the evening before the exam.
For an UGI, espohogram, or small bowel series, do not eat or drink anything after midnight before your visit. For barium enemas, you must pick up bowel prep at the FryeCare facility three days prior to your exam.
Mammography (offered 7am-7pm, M-F, with last appt. at 6:30pm)
To avoid breast swelling and tenderness, please avoid scheduling your mammogram during the week prior to your menstrual period. Do not use any deodorants, powders, perfumes, creams, or lotions in the underarm or breast area; they may interfere with the quality of the image.
Open MRI (offered 7am-7pm, M-F, with last appt. at 6pm; 8am-12pm, Sat., with last appt. 11am)
No preparation is required. Please inform your physician if you have had recent surgery, or if you have a pacemaker, implants, aneurysm clips, or metal in your body.
CT (offered 7am-5pm, M-F, with last appt. at 4:30pm)
You should not eat or drink anything 2 hours prior to your exam. If you are having a CT of the abdomen or pelvis, you must pick up oral prep at the FryeCare facility one day prior to your exam. If you are uncertain whether your CT requires contrast, please ask your referring physician about specific instructions for your service.
Bone Densitometry (offered 7am-12 noon, M-F, with last appt. at 11:30am)
It is important that you do not have any barium, contrast, or nuclear medicine procedures for 48 hours prior to your exam.
Ultrasound (offered 7am-5pm, M-F, with last appt. at 4:30pm)
For bladder, obstetrical/pregnancy/fetal age or pelvis ultrasounds you must have a full bladder during the service, which may cause some slight and temporary discomfort. Please drink at least 32oz of water one hour prior to your visit and refrain from emptying your bladder. Once completed, you will be allowed to empty your bladder.
For abdominal, bile ducts, liver, spleen, aorta, gall bladder, mesenteric, and pancreatic ultrasounds, please refrain from eating or drinking after midnight the evening before your visit. For all other ultrasounds, no special preparation or instructions are required.
