The Ultrasound Imaging Services of Frye Regional Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term accreditation as a result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This accreditation includes specialty areas including obstetric, gynecologic, general diagnostic and vascular ultrasound.
The ACR awards accreditation to medical imaging practices for the achievement of high practice standards after a voluntary inspection. Evaluations are conducted by radiologists who are members of the ACR with special expertise in ultrasound. They assess the quality of the work being performed as well as the qualifications of the personnel.
Accreditation is awarded to those practices that demonstrate high standards in imaging services. The ACR will also note recommendations for improvement. According to Bill Ross, administrative director of diagnostic services at Frye, the ultrasound and vascular lab at Frye passed the survey with very high scores and no recommendations for improvement.
"We have been working on this for the past year, and this was a goal of mine since I arrived at Frye nearly a year and a half ago. I give full credit to our ultrasound staff," said Ross.
The American College of Radiology is a national organization serving more than 32,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, and medical physicists, with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive health services. The ACR Committee on Ultrasound Accreditation evaluates and accredits Ultrasound practices in hospitals and in private offices across the United States.
