Frye’s Auxiliary Cancer Resource Center serves as an educational resource for cancer patients, their families, visitors, physicians and other health care professionals. The Center features a library of videos, educational brochures, books and magazines featuring information on different types of cancers and treatment options. Information focuses not only the medical aspects of cancer, but also the psychological factors including coping with the fear and stress associated with the diagnosis. The Center also provides media equipment including two computers – one is internet based and the other features a Cancer Help Program which is updated monthly with information from the National Cancer Institute. Cancer-related topics are also available in Spanish. The Auxiliary Cancer Resource Center was made possible by an initial $30,000 grant from the Frye’s Auxiliary. Volunteers help to staff the Center to aid visitors in locating information. For more information, contact the Cancer Resource Center at 315-5668 or call the Frye Regional Medical Center Auxiliary at 315-3156.
