Colorectal Patient Navigator Elected Co-Chair of NCONA Committee

Frye Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that the hospital’s Colorectal Patient Navigator, Rebecca C. Wiles RN, BSN, has been elected co-chair of the membership/recruitment/dues committee of the North Carolina Oncology Navigator Association.

 

The purpose of the NCONA is to promote a quality, patient-focused role of navigation and to provide a supportive network for members. 

 

According to Wiles, the goals of the committee are: 

  • To embrace the vision and the mission of the NC State Cancer Plan
  • To increase awareness of the Oncology Navigator Role
  • To ensure that ALL newly diagnosed patients and their caregivers will be provided with patient navigation resources
  • To promote collegiality for best practice and to share resources

 

The Membership committee is responsible for promoting awareness, increasing membership, and establishing types of membership.  Members of this committee will reach out to navigators around the state to foster collegial relationships to share ideas to better serve cancer patients throughout North Carolina.
