Frye Regional Medical Center announces that Cassaundra Hefner, DNP, RN, MSN, FNP-BC and Steve Mooney DNP, RN, BSN, have each achieved their Doctorates of Nursing Practice (DNP).
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing considers the DNP to be the highest level of preparing for nursing practice. The DNP is focused on, although not limited to, evidence-based practice, scholarship to advance the practice, organizational and systems leadership, information technology, healthcare policy and advocacy, interprofessional collaboration across disciplines of health care, and advanced nursing practice.
Dr. Hefner is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and serves in a variety of leadership roles on state and national levels. She is the current vice-president of the North Carolina Nurses Association and serves on the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing. She has received many awards and honors throughout her career in nursing. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and was recently elected to serve as a North Carolina Delegate to the American Nurses Association.
