Frye Regional Medical Center is the title sponsor of the World War II Symposium scheduled for August 9 through 11, 2012 at the Broyhill Center located on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.
The symposium is coordinated by the Appalachian WWII Veterans Organization, a non-profit created to recognize and honor all WWII veterans, especially those in the High Country, and to educate youth on the incredible sacrifices these veterans have made for us.
Guest speakers will present at 7:00 p.m. August 9, with the symposium being conducted in morning and afternoon sessions, August 10 and 11, featuring interviews and discussions with veterans of the Battle of Normandy, Operation Market Garden, Battle of the Bulge, Okinawa and more.
