Frye Welcomes Daniel R. Hatcher as Chief Medical Officer

Frye Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Daniel R. Hatcher, MD as the hospital’s chief medical officer (CMO). Dr. Hatcher, who began his position at Frye in August 2011, replaces Frank Smeeks, MD, who has joined the Bon Secours St. Francis Health System as SVP, Chief Medical Officer.

Prior to coming to Frye, Dr. Hatcher completed four years as CMO for Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL after 23 years in the private practice of internal medicine.

Dr. Hatcher’s responsibilities at Frye are to ensure quality and patient safety in the hospital. He also leads the implementation of Tenet’s comprehensive “Commitment to Quality” initiatives, a program designed to bring about significant improvements in quality of care and patient safety, nursing practices, medical staff governance and other areas vital to the delivery of quality patient care.

Dr. Hatcher received his bachelors and masters of science degrees from the University of Illinois, and a doctorate in medicine from Rush Medical College. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physician Executives, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Internal Medicine.

He and his wife Eileen have three grown sons and two granddaughters.
