Frye Wins Tenet's Circle of Excellence Award

Hickory, NC – Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) announced today that Frye Regional Medical Center has been selected to the company’s 2007 Circle of Excellence. 
    The Circle of Excellence honors those Tenet hospitals that have performed at the highest levels in the past year in the areas of quality, service and operation performance. Key factors involved in the process include patient, physician and employee satisfaction scores, clinical quality scores and financial performance. 
    “The hard work and dedication of the employees at Frye Regional Medical Center made 2006 a great year for the hospital,” said Stephen Newman, M.D., Tenet’s chief operating officer. “I’m proud of all that they accomplished and am thrilled to honor them with Tenet’s Circle of Excellence Award.” 
    Dr. Newman also praised the hospital executive team, led by chief executive officer Denny Bruns, for their hard work and leadership in the past year. “Health care is a business that requires dedication, passion and strong leadership skills to achieve positive results. The executive team at Frye Regional Medical Center performed incredibly well in 2006, and I congratulate them on their successes.” 
    Frye Regional Medical Center earned the Circle of Excellence honor, in part, for the hospital’s well-earned reputation for providing quality care to its patients. In 2006, the hospital received recognition from a number of outside organizations including:
National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award (fourth year in a row), J.D. Power & Associates Distinguished Hospital Program (second year in a row), United Health Premium Cardiac Network Quality designation, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, and American Society of Bariatric Surgeons Center of Excellence. 
    Frye Regional Medical Center consistently ranked above 95 percent in quality indicators for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and above 90 percent for pneumonia care. The hospital also received Tenet’s five-star rating for patient satisfaction for the year.
