Frye Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael R. Blackburn as chief executive officer, effective Aug. 4, 2008.
Blackburn, 56, is an accomplished senior executive with more than 30 years of healthcare experience. He will report to John Holland, senior vice president of operations for Tenet’s Southern States region.
“Michael brings considerable experience and energy to this leadership position,” said Holland. “We are confident that his extensive background in hospital management will help Frye Regional continue its mission to provide quality medicine and compassionate care.”
Blackburn joins Tenet from Quorum Health Resources where he managed 14 hospitals as regional vice president for North and South Carolina. Prior to this role, he worked with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) more than 20 years as chief executive officer of various hospitals in the southeast region of the country.
Blackburn holds a bachelor’s in health care administration from East Texas State University, and a master’s in health care administration from Texas Women’s University. He is a member of the American Hospital Association and a diplomat of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Frye Regional Medical Center is a 355-bed acute care facility located at 420 North Center Street in Hickory.
