Are you inspired to make a difference? Be part of the first "Bras Because" event, an amazing opportunity to make a difference. Every little bit helps to lift spirits and potentially save lives. We are asking everyone to design an artful bra representing their personality, in memory of or in honor of someone special or just for the fun of it. There is no limit to what you can do. Your bra can be simple, serious or whimsical. It is up to you to choose what you want to do and what materials to use. However, "artful bras" must be tastefully designed. The registration fee is $20 per design. Download a registration form here.
Each design will be displayed at "A Sneak Pink" event from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on October 12 at the Frye Cancer Support Center, located at 328 North Center Street in Hickory. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite bras by purchasing $1 tokens. The three bras with the most tokens will win the "People's Choice Awards" and there will also be honorable mentions of other artful bras.
On October 16, "Bras Because" will have its main event at The Warehouse at 18 2nd Street SE in Hickory, from 5 - 8 p.m. The announcement of the winners will be made and the recognition of the other artful bra entries will be revealed. Music and light refreshment will be provided ($10 suggested donation at the door).
Please join us for a memorable night and be a part of something truly meaningful. Proceeds will be used to help subsidize Frye's Cancer Grant Funds and Catawba County Wig Bank. This assistance will provide for patients who could not otherwise afford or meet their needs resulting from their cancer diagnosis. Frye's Cancer Grant funds will be able to offer psychotherapy services to their cancer patients and family members, as well as financial assistance for transportation, medication and medical expenses. It is our goal to provide funding where it is most needed. Many don't realize how expensive bras, wigs, hats and scarves are, and this addresses an easily overlooked problem - that patients in need cannot afford.
From the magical setting to the inspired bra artwork, this night will truly be a special event unlike any other. It is all made possible by Frye's commitment to the care and needs of their cancer patients, our generous sponsorships, donors and national and local organizations who are passionate about the cause.
