(offered 7am-5pm, Monday-Friday)

For basic studies, such as chest and extremity X-rays, no special preparation or instructions are required. However, certain X-ray studies of the digestive system such as GI series, barium enemas, small bowel series, require bowel preparation or fasting prior to the exam.

For an UGI, espohogram, or small bowel series, do not eat or drink anything after midnight before your visit.

For barium enemas, the following items need to be purchased:

1.       One bottle of Oral Solution Magnesium Citrate 
2.       Three Bisacodyl 5 mg tablets (i.e. Dulcolax)
3.       One Laxative Suppository (i.e. Dulcolax)

You may purchase these items at the pharmacy of your choice.  
NO PRESCRIPTION IS REQUIRED.  Ask the pharmacist if you need assistance with the cheapest equivalent options for these items.
