Prepared Childbirth Classes

This class covers labor, delivery, postpartum care, inductions, pain control methods, cesarean sections and more. The third class offers up-to-date breastfeeding education based on evidence-based research.

Prepared Childbirth classes are held from 1:30 - 7:00 pm on the following Saturdays:

Breastfeeding Classes

Breastfeeding classes cover a wide variety of topics, including the benefits of breastfeeding, tips for working mothers who breastfeed their babies, North Carolina breastfeeding laws, pumping and storing breast milk, choosing a breast pump, and other issues such as maintaining milk supply. Resources and products that are especially helpful are available. Partners are encouraged to attend. For more information or to register, call 828.315.3041

Breastfeeding Moms Support Group

Join other breastfeeding or pumping mothers and share breastfeeding experiences on how to get started or how to maintain breastfeeding while continuing to work. A lactation consultant is available to answer questions.Just drop by the OB classroom at the Frye Birthing Center. No registration is required. For more information, call 828.315.3041

Sibling Tours

Becoming a sibling for the first time is a very special event. We have a class designed just for the big brother or big sister in your family. This fun and interactive class for children ages 3-7 teaches them what it is like to have a new baby in the home. Your child will learn how to hold and diaper their new sibling using demonstration dolls. Each child will receive a certificate upon completion. Parents should attend with the child. Car Seat Safety Classes

Car Seat Safety Classes are available from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on the following Saturdays:

Baby Safety Classes

Baby Safety Classes provide infant CPR training and education on a variety of important topics such as bathing, circumcision care, cord care and proper positioning for baby while sleeping. For more information or to register, call 828.315.3104.

Free Tools Are Available

Be prepared for a smooth hospital stay and focus on what’s most important – those first few moments with your new family. Free tools are available. Go to Coeffective.com and download the mobile app to learn about practices that can get families off to a great start. Coeffective is a Baby Friendly hospital initiative.

Hours of Operation: 24 Hours

When you come to the hospital on weekdays between 5 am and 5 pm, come to the 5th Ave NE Same Day Surgery entrance and utilize our free valet parking service. After 5 pm and on weekends, you may be dropped off at the Same Day Surgery entrance and have a family member park your vehicle. If you have an emergency, please go directly to our emergency department (ED) and we will escort you to the labor and delivery unit if needed.
