Frye Regional Medical Center Welcomes First Baby of 2023

HICKORY, NC (January 5, 2022) – Frye Regional Medical Center is ringing in 2023 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Weighing 5 pounds and 7 ounces and measuring 20 inches, Zakkary was born to Mom Elizabeth and Dad Travis on January 1 at 8:40 a.m.
“We are so happy he is here,” said Elizabeth. “Dr. (Jill) Simon is an amazing doctor, and the staff at the hospital has taken great care of me and Zakkary. “
Frye Regional is committed to providing high quality, compassionate care close to home for new and expecting parents in the region. The hospital’s experienced labor and delivery specialists provide everything from prenatal to postpartum care, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a range of education resources and support to meet the needs of new parents. The Birthing Center at Frye Regional features private labor and delivery suites, mom and baby rooming-in options, a sofa sleeper for the birth partner and more. New parents can even expect an elegant dinner for two to celebrate before they leave.

The Birthing Center staff presented a gift basket to the first baby of the year, which included thoughtful items for the mom and newborn.
