Frye Regional Medical Center Invests Over $250 Million in 2024

HICKORY, NC (May 29, 2025) – Frye Regional Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint hospital, has released its 2024 Community Benefit Report, highlighting more than $250 million invested to expand access to health care, support employees and strengthen the economic well-being of the Unifour region. The report reflects Frye Regional’s mission of making communities healthier® and its continued commitment to the region it has served since 1911.
“Frye Regional remains dedicated to delivering high-quality care close to home, investing in the overall well-being of our region and making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve,” said Philip Greene, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Frye Regional Medical Center. “This year’s report reinforces our commitment to providing exceptional care—both inside the hospital and throughout the communities we serve.”
Highlights from the 2024 Community Benefit Report include:
- Workforce Growth: Frye Regional welcomed 79 new providers across specialties such as cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery and family medicine, enhancing critical access to care for residents throughout the region.
- Technology Investments: The hospital invested nearly $14.9 million in advanced medical technology, including robotic-assisted surgical systems and upgraded diagnostic imaging equipment, demonstrating its commitment to clinical excellence.
- Community Commitment: Frye Regional provided $51.7 million in uncompensated care and community benefit programs, reinforcing its dedication to health equity and supporting underserved populations.
- Employee Support: The hospital invested $151 million in salaries and benefits for 1,580 employees, along with more than $668,000 in professional development and continuing education, fostering a culture of growth, support and retention.
- Economic Impact: Frye Regional contributed more than $35 million in local and state taxes, and sustained partnerships with educational and nonprofit organizations, serving as a vital economic and social anchor in the community.
