Board-certified physician assistant brings more than 35 years of surgical experience to Hickory.

Frye Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Carlos Anzola, PA-C, a board-certified physician assistant specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, to its medical team.

With more than 35 years of experience in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, Anzola assists with complex procedures and provides comprehensive pre- and post-operative patient care. He performs endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting and offers procedural support, including thoracentesis, arterial and venous line placement, and chest tube management.

He is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the National Certification Board of Medical Examiners. Anzola is also a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants and the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery.

Previously, Anzola served at CaroMont Heart & Vascular in North Carolina. Throughout his distinguished career, he has also practiced at Atrium Health’s Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Monroe, North Carolina, Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the New Mexico Heart Institute in Albuquerque.

Anzola earned both his physician assistant degree and bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and radiologic technology from Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Anzola is fluent in both English and Spanish and provides care to adult and geriatric patients.
