June 22, 2026

Frye Regional Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint facility, partnered with Catawba County Schools for the second annual Frye Regional Med Camp, an immersive summer program designed to inspire and educate the next generation of health care professionals.

Held from June 1 to June 18, the 2026 Med Camp welcomed 14 rising junior and senior high school students for a hands-on introduction to the wide range of careers available in health care. Students were selected through an application process coordinated by Catawba County Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.

Throughout the camp, participants engaged in interactive workshops, clinical simulations and guided tours of key hospital departments including Emergency Services, Surgery and Radiology. Students gained firsthand exposure to a variety of medical careers while learning directly from physicians, nurses, technicians and hospital leaders.

“Investing in students today helps strengthen the future of health care in our community,” said Lindy White, MBA, FABC, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center. “Med Camp gives students a unique opportunity to explore their interests, build valuable skills and better understand the many rewarding career paths available in medicine and health care. We are proud to continue this partnership with Catawba County Schools.”

Camp highlights included:

  • Hands-on CPR and first aid training
  • Mock surgery simulations
  • Diagnostic demonstrations using advanced imaging technology
  • Interactive Q&A sessions with medical professionals

The program supports Frye Regional’s commitment to community engagement and workforce development while aligning with Catawba County Schools’ efforts to provide students with meaningful career exploration opportunities.
