Frye Regional Names Christine Markowitz Chief Financial Officer

Frye Regional Medical Center announced today that Christine Markowitz, CPA, has been named chief financial officer. Markowitz has more than 30 years of health care finance and executive leadership experience, including more than 15 years in financial leadership roles with hospitals and health systems across the Southeast.
As CFO, Markowitz will oversee Frye Regional’s financial operations and collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic planning, operational performance and investments in the services, technology and resources that support patient care.
“Christine is an experienced health care finance leader who understands the important connection between strong financial stewardship and our ability to provide high-quality care to the communities we serve,” said Lindy White, MBA, FABC, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center. “Her knowledge of hospital operations, strategic planning and financial management will be an asset as we continue to strengthen and grow Frye Regional. We are pleased to welcome her to our leadership team.”
Markowitz most recently served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for Beaufort Memorial in Beaufort, South Carolina, where she oversaw financial operations for the 201-bed health system. Her responsibilities included financial planning, operational and capital budgeting, treasury management, financial reporting, and revenue and expense oversight.
Prior to joining Beaufort Memorial, Markowitz spent nearly six years with Lifepoint Health as market chief financial officer for Sovah Health, a 470-bed, two-campus health system in Danville, Virginia. During her tenure, she led financial operations and helped guide investments in several major projects, including emergency department renovations, cardiac catheterization laboratory upgrades, advanced imaging and surgical technology.
Markowitz also held CFO roles with Community Health Systems hospitals in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina, as well as an assistant CFO role in Virginia. Throughout her career, she has partnered with clinical and administrative leaders to strengthen operations and support organizational growth.

Markowitz earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce with a concentration in accounting from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is a certified public accountant and has also served in community leadership roles, including as a board member and treasurer for the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce and as a board member for United Way of Southeast Georgia.
Markowitz’s joins Frye Regional’s executive leadership team as the hospital continues to focus on quality, growth and access to care throughout the region.
