Frye Regional Vascular Surgeons Reach 1,000- and 1,700-Procedure Milestones

Frye Regional Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint hospital, is recognizing two significant physician milestones during Vascular Disease Awareness Month. Korsica Mebane, MD, board-certified vascular surgeon, completed her 1,000th vascular procedure at Frye Regional, while Kenneth Piercy, MD, board-certified vascular surgeon, completed his 1,700th vascular procedure.

These milestones reflect Frye Regional’s commitment to providing advanced vascular care close to home for patients throughout the Catawba Valley and western North Carolina.

Vascular disease refers to conditions that affect the arteries and veins and can interfere with healthy blood flow throughout the body. Early detection and treatment can help reduce the risk of serious complications such as stroke, limb loss and other life-threatening conditions.

“Reaching these milestones is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality vascular care and helping patients maintain their health, mobility and quality of life,” said Dr. Mebane. “It is a privilege to care for patients in our community and help them navigate complex vascular conditions with confidence and compassion.”

Vascular Disease Awareness Month also serves as a reminder that some vascular conditions develop gradually with few or no noticeable symptoms, Dr. Piercy said.

“Many patients do not realize they have vascular disease until it has progressed,” said Dr. Piercy. “Awareness, preventive care and timely evaluation are critical. Individuals should talk with their health care provider if they experience symptoms such as leg pain while walking, wounds that do not heal, changes in skin color or other signs of poor circulation.”
