Frye Regional Imaging Center - Lenoir Expands Access to Advanced Metabolic Health Imaging
September 30, 2026
Frye Regional Imaging Center - Lenoir is helping patients gain a more complete picture of their metabolic health through advanced imaging technologies that provide insights beyond traditional weight measurements.
Located within Frye Regional HealthPark at 1041 Morganton Blvd. SW in Lenoir, the Imaging Center offers liver elastography and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) body composition analysis. These noninvasive technologies help physicians evaluate factors such as liver fat, visceral fat and body composition that are not reflected by weight or body mass index (BMI) alone.
“Patients are looking for more than a number on a scale when it comes to understanding their health,” said Cody Plemmons, CT, RT(N), imaging supervisor at Frye Regional Imaging Center - Lenoir. “Liver elastography and DEXA body composition analysis provide detailed information that can help patients and their health care providers better understand their overall health. Having these services available in Lenoir gives patients access to advanced imaging close to home.”
Liver elastography is a noninvasive imaging exam that evaluates liver stiffness and liver fat, which can be associated with metabolic disease and fatty liver conditions. Because fatty liver disease may cause few or no symptoms in its early stages, imaging can help identify potential concerns and guide treatment decisions. The exam requires no needles or sedation and can be completed quickly and comfortably.
Frye Regional Imaging Center - Lenoir also utilizes the GE Lunar iDXA, an advanced DEXA system that measures bone density and body composition. In addition to its use for bone density testing, the technology can provide detailed measurements of:
- Total body fat
- Visceral fat surrounding internal organs
- Lean muscle mass
- Fat distribution throughout the body
This information can help physicians better assess health risks and monitor changes over time as part of an individualized care plan.
Advanced metabolic imaging may benefit patients who:
- Have concerns about weight-related health conditions
- Have diabetes or other metabolic disorders
- Are at risk for fatty liver disease
- Want a more detailed understanding of their body composition
- Are working with their health care provider on weight management goals
By offering these services locally, Frye Regional Imaging Center - Lenoir provides area residents with convenient access to advanced metabolic imaging within their community.
In addition to liver elastography and DEXA body composition analysis, the Imaging Center offers magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), mammography, ultrasound and X-ray services, along with same-day appointments, walk-in availability and coordinated care with referring providers.
