Treatments
Orthopedic Treatment
Frye Regional's orthopedics and spine team specializes in a wide variety of sub-specialties in surgical and non-surgical treatments. Our goal is to eliminate your pain and restore your functionality as quickly and safely as possible.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy allows health care providers to block pain for immediate and long-term relief by delivering precise cold therapy to a targeted nerve. In orthopedics, it may include a range of applications depending on a patient’s condition and treatment plan.
One option for select patients is targeted nerve freezing, a minimally invasive outpatient procedure used to temporarily interrupt pain signals from specific sensory nerves around the knee. It may be recommended for certain patients with knee osteoarthritis and can also be incorporated into preoperative planning for total knee replacement.
When performed prior to surgery, targeted nerve freezing may help reduce discomfort during early recovery and support participation in physical therapy. Because the nerve interruption is temporary, normal nerve function gradually returns over time. Individual results vary.
Rehabilitation
Our orthopedic team works with specialists at Frye Regional's rehabilitation center to provide intensive, individualized care at every level, from acute care to inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient therapy. Throughout the process, we focus on lifestyle rehabilitation, including physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapies.
Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation
As part of the Frye Regional's rehabilitation services, our acute care rehabilitation program provides physical, psychological, respiratory, and wound-healing therapies, as well as prosthetic/orthotic and other wound-healing therapies.
Physical and Occupational Medicine
Our physical and occupational therapy programs are about more than restoring functionality to the body—they’re about restoring your lifestyle and ability to pursue meaningful work. That’s why we work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that identifies goals, coordinate efforts, and help to ensure that all therapies are carried through to recovery, whether in our acute care unit, inpatient unit, or outpatient clinic.
Physiatry
Physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, or physiatrists, diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of disorders that affect how you move. The physiatrists at Frye Regional care for sports, spine, orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions and help people get moving again.
Joint Replacement & Preservation
Joint degeneration and dysfunction may arise from arthritis, osteonecrosis, congenital conditions or injuries. Our orthopedic physicians, nurses and therapists provide a range of both surgical and non-surgical treatments of knee, hip and shoulder conditions and injuries—from self-care education, physical therapy, occupational therapy and pain management to total joint replacement.
When joint replacement is necessary to reduce pain and restore functioning, our surgeons use technologically advanced prosthetic implants and surgical techniques to maximize the likelihood of a successful outcome.
For patients preparing for knee replacement, preoperative pain management strategies may include targeted nerve freezing as part of a comprehensive, multimodal approach designed to support comfort and early mobility following surgery.
When joint replacement is necessary to relieve pain and restore function, our surgeons use advanced implants and surgical techniques to support safe, effective outcomes.
