Safety and Security
Your ID Bracelet
You will be given a special identification (ID) bracelet which states your name and hospital number, your physician’s name, and other important information. Please wear your ID bracelet at all times; otherwise, important lab tests, x-rays, and various other tests and treatments may be delayed.
For our patients safety and comfort and in cooperation with the Joint Commission, Frye Regional Medical Center is a tobacco-free facility. No tobacco products of any kind are permitted on hospital properties.
To help ensure your safety, we ask that you do not use electrical appliances (such as hair dryers or electric razors) in your room. If you must use an electrical appliance, please ask your nurse to have it inspected for safety prior to use. Please note: Electrical appliances from home are not permitted in Critical Care Units.
For your safety, Frye Regional conducts fire and disaster drills at various times throughout the year. If a drill occurs while you are a patient, please remain in your room and do not become alarmed. The hospital is a fire-resistant building, and our staff is trained in fire protection.
Medications which you take while hospitalized are prescribed by your physician, dispensed by the hospital pharmacy, and administered by a nurse. Patients are not permitted to administer their own medications or keep personal medications during their hospitalization.
Special regulations must be followed when patients are receiving oxygen. Electrically operated equipment and aerosol products are not permitted in these areas.
Wheelchairs are available on all nursing units. Please ask for assistance from a hospital staff member when getting in or out of a wheelchair, as doing so alone might be hazardous.
The medical center requests visitors and patients limit their usage of cellular phones within the hospital. Although use of cellular phones inside the facility is not prohibited, cellular phones may interfere with the operation of equipment. If interference is detected, a staff member may ask you to turn off your phone or to use it in a different area. We also ask you to be respectful of our patients and staff by setting your ringers on low or silent while on the unit or in patient care areas.
Valuables and lost items (Patient Property)
If you have brought valuables with you such as jewelry, watches, or cash, we urge you to send them home with a family member or friend. We cannot assume responsibility for personal items left in your hospital room. If you wish, you may place your valuables in our safe during your hospital stay. You will be issued a receipt which you may use to reclaim your valuable when you leave the hospital. Our nursing staff will assist you in this process. If you lose an item, please inform your nurse as soon as possible. Items that have been misplaced and found are returned to Security. For assistance, dial “0” and an operator will assist you.
